Roxanne is a self-taught, multi-disciplinary Designer and Tech Educator on a mission to build technology that is beautiful and poetic, delightful, loving, and kind. Her work has won awards and been featured in Fast Company.
She co-founded Comforts of Home, with a vision to design thoughtful goods for the home, inspired by the cultural intersections of her Philippine diaspora, living in New York, and all that's shaped her in between.
She also likes to write poetry and make art with code, and design adventures around the world.


The Future of Smart Ride Tracking
I led Product Design, Information Architecture, and Interactive Prototyping and contributed to Product and Content Strategy, User Research, and Visual Design for a native mobile ride app that pairs with a forthcoming sensor-enabled suspension system on mountain bikes, so riders can track ride data to optimize their performance.
The client is an industry leader in designing, engineering, and manufacturing high-quality, premium suspension systems for all-terrain vehicles.
The CTO socialized this app prototype to reach leadership alignment on continued investment in software and embedded hardware integration to achieve strategic business goals.

Designing for Equity in Small Business Ownership
I’ve led several projects with Start Small Think Big, a nation-wide nonprofit with a mission to fight systems of oppression and structural racism, and advance equity in small business (SMB) ownership by providing pro bono Financial, Legal, and Marketing services to small businesses from historically excluded communities.
Work includes but is not limited to:
Leading on-going User Research and Design for Equity and Accessibility that considers the unique needs and challenges of SMB owners with limited resources, from communities of color, with low tech literacy, and/or ESL backgrounds.

As Founding Product Designer, I launched the MVP of Truesy on the Tezos blockchain in <1 month, which made it super easy for people to support their favorite artists and by their first NFT.

I led the UX/UI, Interaction, Content Strategy and Design, and contributed to Visual Design of the web strategy project that focused on potential customers' product research and discovery experience.
The CMO socialized our North Star Vision and Web Strategy work with their leadership team, and received the green light and funding to evolve the website, resulting in our agency winning a 8-figure multi-year contract (largest in agency history) to execute the website redesign.

Our team's concept, Me.ring, is a wearable device that allows a user to quickly declare their willingness to share their digital presence and personal information within specific locations, and subsequently signal acceptance of relevant transactions.

When Rox approaches a problem, she has the unique ability to ask incisive questions about our users' experience and needs, and she always takes the time to make sure her understanding is well-founded before moving to proposing a solution.
For us as an organization that focuses on helping marginalized communities, this is especially important.
Simply relying on "industry standard" approaches won't work when the "industry" has historically not spent much time thinking about equity.
Centering empathy in our design approach, as Rox naturally does so well, is essential.
